Trying to enjoy the present moment to the fullest
Right now i seem to have trouble enjoying the present moment. This has always been a struggle for me especially during the last six months. Sometimes I feel like I know to much for my own good. I understand that every event and moment passes and things end and that we all will eventualy face moments that are challenging, painful, or unconfortable. I sometimes wish I wasn't aware of this because knowing this distracts me from enjoying enjoyable moments to the fullest. Right now I consider my self lucky. I have a nice house by the water, I don't have a stressful life, I have a lot of friends that like me, and I have a lot of freedom in my life. However, I feel like I could be a lot happier with what is going on but I am not because I know challenging moments where I will suffer are yet to come and inevitablly on it's way in the coarse of enteral existence. I wish this fear didn't bother me, I wish it wasn't a struggle for me to enjoy the "now" because of the worry about the future. I wish I could enjoy every moment to the fullest like I did when I was younger. If you as a reader have experienced this and have some ideas into how to get out of this, I would really appreciate it a lot! God gave us a gift and that is for us to enjoy his creations but this fear I have about suffering in the future is blocking me from enjoying this gift to the fullest.

Re: Trying to enjoy the present moment to the fullest
Here is something that might help.
Find something that makes you feel good. It needs to be something that you can do without thinking, with very little to no effort and can do for a long time. Like taking a warm shower or sitting outside on a sunny day (mind you, I like being warm so those work well for me, but you should pick something that works well for you.)
Pick a time when you have nothing to do for the next couple of hours. A lazy weekend is best. Basically you don't want any part of your brain to focus on "I'll need to stop at time x to get ready for ..."
Then go do whatever you chose. Start by awakening your energy (Sweet or running by your chakra's, whatever works for you), then ground. Let energy from the enjoyable activity/sensation flow through you. Your mind will run around in circles, trying to get your attention back to all the things that could go wrong: just re-ground when that happens. When your mind stops running, focus on the enjoyable sensation. Keep alternating between enjoyment and regrounding as necessary.
The first couple of times you'll do more grounding than anything else, as your mind keeps struggling to come up with things to distract you and make you worry. Eventually your unconscious will realize and accept that you can feel enjoyment without the world falling apart though, and it'll get easier.
I hope that can help you.

thank you this helps and I think you are absolutley right on this suggestion. Today I had a lot of free time and did a lot of driving around and just simply doing things I generally enjoy. I like driving. I did that today and yesterday. I let the enjoyable energy flow thorugh me, my mind did try to come up with ways to distract my enjoyment but I grounded it out a lot. Eventhough I felt I had to gcb constantly I didn't mind it and I felt it helped. I really love the gcb too.

Wow! I have the same exact problem. It's ridiculous. Sometimes I'll even be with my friends and I'll be so distant from them because I'm in my own little world--WORRYING. About the future, mostly, sometimes about the past. I have trouble living in the present as well. So, I'll try this as well. Thanks a lot!

Re: Trying to enjoy the present moment to the fullest
exactly. this is what it made me feel too, distant from my friends, distant from almost everything sometimes...a feeling that's sometimes as bad as hell. GCBing like what that one guy said has really worked for me so far. Also what I also found works is not being too attached to (enjoying) specific things or events and to also just simply seek enjoyment or pleasuer at everymoment (sometimes it really doesn't matter what as long as your feeling joy). Also what I also have found helps is enjoying each moment to the fullest, like what people try to do during a special time i.e. a new years ball drop...they try to literally capture the lasta few moments of the year and enjoy it to the fullest before it ends....but doing this in every moment. These tools have really helped me so far in the last two weeks and this hasn't been such an issue lately but if it does again I'll think of some more ideas and post them.
