I found a beautiful poetry book by Rumi at a second hand bookstore, in perfect condition. Just reading a few sentences makes me smile already. Beauty in shape of words.

Is this thread still up and running? Because I got something nice to share! =O

I was awesome during the Japanese Public Speech Contest, I was 12th from the 29! (If I said 31 over skype, I was mistaken. There were supposed to be 31, but apparently 2 participants dropped out at the last minute.)

That is so friggin awesome for me! =D No prices, of course, but I wasn't even sure if I made into the top 20, but this is... wow.

And my teachers couldn't stop telling me that my speech was very good. :oops: I have never really been the best in Japanese, but one teacher told me that I really sounded natural and fluent. And then my teacher for Japanese essays, who is Japanese herself, said that she thought my speech was very good, because it had a clear introduction, main body, examples, my opinion and then a conclusion. (The theme was "What makes me proud to be Dutch".) Most people would just mentioned a few things and then conclude, there was hardly anyone who really had a beginning and an ending.

So that was awesome. =D And I'm so happy! And if anyone wants to read the speech, you can find it at my LJ. ^^ (I'm not sure if I can post it here.)

Edit: My LJ is friends' locked though, because of some nasty business that happened a few years ago... sorry. ^^;;;

yay! congrats on your essay!

yes, I think an awesome thread is still up and running!

I'd like to post some awesomeness.... i was quite worried about an event i had last night that i was coordinating. i line up some art shows with music and art. I love supporting people's creativity and seeing the works being made and presented due to my efforts, it's a good feeling, to help others by giving them an opportunity. it's a great way to make friends and i find that helping others is the best way to help myself.

well, i was so worried about it for some reason, because i haven't been putting the same amount of energy into promoting events such as this as i used to.... i was beating my self up about this, because i have been busy with other things and new projects and interests like teaching new students and classes, developing and finding new directions my life is taking, thinking about what i want, what my passion is, etc., and going for this... (a lot of change is going on, which is good and I embrace ;) ) and my spiritual growth and understanding. But also it is difficult when you change so much and find yourself growing and becoming someone new... It requires adjustment.

but the show was still awesome none the less! every one had a great time and it was a success. i made some new friends as well and i am very happy about this.

then afterwards i went to hear some live music and it was some of the best i've seen in a long time. it turned out to be a really terrific night. i'm so glad i didn't shroud myself in fear and stepped out of my "funk"!

anything negative is in my head really, if i open my heart, have a good attitude and try my best no matter what, everything works out beautifully.
;) there's always more you can do though and more you can learn.... the lessons are always a blessing in disguise when we see it this way. ;)

I'm glad the event worked out in a positive way, Tina! :)

Something nice about today... Well! Apart from spending quality time with my S.O. whom I haven't seen in two weeks, I think I have a good idea what my animal totem(s?) are, after asking kattzyze a few questions about totems :3 I'm excited~

Yay, Susi! Good job learning to make meatballs. Now... do you know how to make homemade spaghetti sauce? I have an easy recipe, if you want. I can also give you an easy quiche recipe, too, if you want to expand your cooking horizons. :D

Something nice about my day: Lulu is now walking more than crawling, and while it's a little bittersweet I'm just so proud of her! She looks like a baby zombie, because her legs are stiff and she holds her arms out in front of her for balance. Super cute. ;)
