Here's a new version of word association. Just respond to whatever's posted above you with the first impression you get from a different sense. The idea is to work in intuitive leaps.
Example: grass (sight) might make you think green (sight).
Or the (sound) of crickets.
Or the (smell) of potato salad.
Or the (taste) of summer sweat.
Or the prickly feel under bare toes (touch).
If there's another sense that comes to mind first, feel free to post that!
Any questions? Need more examples? Let me know!
First word:
Thunder
Synasthesia

lightning--sight (we only need to post one word each, right?)

Re: Synasthesia
One is fine, though if you want the practice you could do all of the senses. You need to post a new word, though!

Nightfall, can we respond to the association of the person above us until the chain starts to repeat itself? I'm kinda curious to see where such a chain would go.
Also, can I still choose a sight associate if the person above me chose sight too or do I have to switch to another sense?

Whispers - I love the chain association idea! We should totally do that! As for switching the senses, let's see how it goes. If you want to stay with the same sense (in your comfort zone) that's okay, but part of the game is also to challenge yourself to think non-linearly.
So, my turn.
blue (sight) =
winter (touch - specifically icy wind)

chilly - touch ==> snow - sight ==> calm - emotion (does this count? XD) ==> grounding - sight (yes, i do actually visualise calmness with grounding)
==> colour (or the lack of) - sight
actually, i hink this will never end ._. eh, i gave it a try XD

Penguin = smooth (touch)

Re: Synasthesia
Hmmmm--smooth can equal soft as well, which is another tactile sensation--sweet can equal newborn kittens, too, who are also soft--But then again, something that feels smooth may not also be soft......But this is an association game, right--so smooth can make me think of its opposite, rough, too. I'm not sure if I am getting this game correctly, but I am gonna say:
smooth=soft (touch)
smooth=soft (touch)
