I thought I'd post my silly problem here, seeing as I recently learned that physical results may not always have physical causes.
For a few years now I've been having returning itchy spots on my legs, mostly the lower leg.
It started out as just one large spot on my right shin, it was itchy and red and wrinkly but didn't look very disgusting or anything. I'd thought I had gotten infected with something silly and went to see my doctor.
She told me it was eczema, very general, and gave me a cream to put on it. The stuff is quite aggressive, so I can't use it for too long as it makes the skin thinner.
I thought that was it. I put the stuff on, refused to let any water hit that spot as ordered, and it left.
Then later that year it came back, and there were more, even on my left calf etc. Now for a few years it's been coming and going, in summer it is completely gone and then when summer goes on into fall, there they are again. It mostly coincides with that, and with winter going into spring sometimes, I believe, but I haven't paid that much attention to the timing until now so I can't be sure.
Either way, I don't really want to use any of that cream anymore as it will require me to not shower because by now I need to avoid both my lower legs and some spots on my upper legs.
While it looks fairly harmless (in fact, you'd miss the spots unless you were looking for them specifically) they're EXTREMELY itchy and I'm very good at resisting itches - I'm the type to suffer through mosquito bites without scratching them more than once, or scratching until they bleed. With these spots, however, I sometimes ended up scratching until I did bleed. That's very uncommon for me, and I know it's bad/doesn't help.
Of course, googling for it just got me the "You inherited it from a family member, you're stuck with it for the rest of your life, enjoy" routine, which I refuse to accept because it annoys me. Yes my grandfather had a slight hint at skin problems, but I've always had flawless body skin until puberty came at an end. So it's not a "it pops up during puberty" thing either. Sigh.
I just really hope that maybe one of you can tell me what it is, because I'm just about ready to go back to my physician and stay in her office until she fixes it for me.
