Integrating EP into everyday life (MIRL)

Postby sarahspirit » Thu Nov 04, 2010 1:45 am

I hope I am posting this in the right place. On Sunday, October 31, there was a lengthy discussing in the Challenge Room regarding this topic. I am posting most of Rohaa's comments. The ones in red italics are comments by others.

INTEGRATING META INTO EVERYDAY LIFE

The main reason you don’t do much Meta in your life is simply because you forget. You forget, because somewhere in your brain, you have two worlds: real world, and Meta world. When you're out doing your job, being in school, watching TV, shopping, your brain says "real world!" and it doesn’t link up to any of the meta things and that's logical. You spent some 20-30+ years in the "real world", a world without energy, without intuition and without a clue of who you are or that you are even really alive. That’s a long time

You have a whole set of rules in your head that says "the world works like this". And you built up literally decades of experiences and habits to confirm it. Now we're coming along and saying "yeah, the world how you thought it was? It doesn’t work that way. There’s magic out there." But what we're saying doesn’t fit in your picture of 20+ years that says "here's how the real world works", the world that mom and dad and schoolteachers and employers and partners taught you about

You’ve convinced yourself it’s important, so you spend a few hours a week going to class. You step out of the real world and into the Meta world for a bit. In your head, there are two worlds, because either you have to throw away everything you ever learned and accept them as all lies and nonsense, as well as break any rule you have inside, AND get through all your habits... or you get a little mental, if that's the term. You live in two worlds. when you're not in class or chatting to elfpath family or intentionally doing some exercise or digging up an issue because it smacked you in the face and made normal functioning impossible... all your triggers are saying "this is the real world, do real world stuff"

So this isn’t as much an issue of "I’m lazy" or "I’m scared" or "I’m tired", though sure, there's that, discipline and focus always helps, but I think it's this fundamental piece where your brain just separates the meta from the world now this is of course preposterous

Meta is almost like a pair of glasses. You can put them on and be in the real/meta world when you want, and take them off when you want to be in the real world again. But then the real world kicks in, and you don’t even really believe in any of that flaky stuff, let alone that you can do it. It’s easy to get so wrapped up in the real world that you forget. Remember you’ve got all of your life prior to, what, a year ago, that taught you otherwise, that gave you habits and rules and believes. That’s a tough thing to fight

Of course then you get phrases like "I’ve no time for the Meta" or "I was too busy" or "other stuff came up”. It’s how your habits work. If you're in one world, you can’t also be in the other because surely you can’t function in the real world if you're trying to also be in the Meta world, and you need the real world to eat and work and have relationships. The meta is a cute side-toy compared to those essentials. What’s the most important drive in all organisms? In this world, what do you need to stay alive? Food, shelter, water and sleep,

Feel how all your fears are already coming up? Can you guess why? We’re scared of not having those things, of leaving all the old things behind we believe we need. That this will interfere with those, of the change implicit there

You have a deep internal drive towards survival. It’s coded into the species; it's in your genes and all your instincts. This drive says "need food, need safety, need tribe". It’s a helpful drive. if every single one of your ancestors up to 100.000s of years back were not awesome at surviving, if they didn’t have this drive, you wouldn’t be here it tells you "you need to live, don’t tell your boss he's an asshole" or "if you don’t study you won’t have a job and you won’t survive" and "if you let go of what mom and dad/tribe say, you'll be all alone without support" all useful things, you need them so don’t bash yourself up for having this, it's a natural instinct that is very helpful to you. It’s not your enemy

Now there's another part of your mind that says "yeah, but life sucks this way. I want to be happy. There is more to me; I’m living like a particularly miserable ghost. This isn’t ok with me any longer". So you're here, you're learning, you've made a lot of progress, but when it’s a battle between the Meta and the "real world", your deepest, most primal instincts say "MUST SURVIVE". Screw living happy, let’s stay alive first. So of course the Meta always loses out
1) Your brain has split it into two worlds, the real world and the Meta world, and you can’t have both at the same time
2) You’ve a primal instinct that wants you to survive
3) Your whole upbringing has taught you what you need to stay alive in the real world

Of course your brain/subconscious concludes the following: "must survive. Meta alone makes me dead because if lose my family and job and money and career. Therefore not an option must choose other world". And then when you see real world things, you toss away those meta-glasses and live in it like you're supposed to, like everyone else does. Now and then, when you’ve time, when your survival isn’t threatened, you step into that other world where there's some happiness and chances of growing and lots of wonderful things and then you wonder how come you're such a mess inside

Even when you clear things, they come back, or you fall back in old habits and get screwed up all over again. You learn things that should make your life easier, but you forget to use them, you zone them out, and then part of you goes "wtf, wasn’t my life supposed to be easier now? This shit doesn’t work" when you run into difficulties. Until eventually you run into big enough problems somewhere that your Meta disciplines are the only thing you know to get you out of it, and you get back to them

This isn’t a solution; this is just "here is what's going on inside you. It’s ok, you're not a bad person, everyone else has this too, it happens because of your inner programming, and i understand what it’s like". You need to teach your brain that the premises on which this whole mess is built, the idea that you can’t have both worlds, is nonsense. That’s why I’ve been working on MIRL the last few days

It has a list of some normal real life situations that you run into all the time, and if you click them, there's a list of simple meta things you can do, DURING these real life things. If you practise these things, your brain will slowly learn that real life = survival, real life + Meta = survival + happiness. You can do Meta anywhere, everywhere, and it will improve whatever it is that you're doing. I’ve just sketched out a list, I’m sure there are many other possibilities. If you find any, just add them directly into the wiki. I tried to make a full list of all sorts of Meta things you can do during real life (MIRLs) all the way at the bottom. Almost all still need a page, but 90% should be obvious to anyone in interm already

Your brain can do much more than it does during your average day. When you’re vacuuming, for example, does that take up all of your focus and concentration? Then what do you do with the rest of your attention/focus/energy? if you're anything like me, your brain will go off on a tangent, thinking of tomorrow's shopping list and how your partner was mean to you and how you’ve work to do for your job and how the weather sucks and how this issue is still bugging you. It just spins around. You don’t even realise that you've just lost all awareness, aren’t grounded anymore, and aren’t paying attention to your emotions. You don’t have to do all of that, because you're Vacuuming. You can do all sorts of useful (and fun) Meta things while vacuuming. While you vacuum, you can meta-vacuum the house, get dense energies out, your point in vacuuming is cleaning, so that's what is important to you at the moment anyway

You don’t have to make time for it. You don’t have to let something else slip, you're still vacuuming. You’re just doing it better. You get the gunk out of your house, the ghosts out of dark corners, the gutmuck that's heaped on the floor wiped off and your house will feel a lot easier to breathe in, easier to focus, etc. That bypasses all of your inner drive that says "yeah but I have to LIVE, too!". While your hands are busy vacuuming, your mind can make ghost portals and your energy can ground the energy blobs piled on your floor and in your objects, etc. So you don’t do either the real world or the Meta, you do the Meta DURING the real world, to improve whatever it is that you're doing in the real world at that very moment. Soon enough, your subconscious will realise "oh hey, meta makes my life easier. i survive better. Cool. More."

New ways to apply the basics etc., gcb while showering is entirely different than gcb while talking to someone else. "Scanning" sounds vague, but "scanning what food is healthy for me right now (so my body feels better and the food is tastier)" is a lot more concrete already, and probably not something you' d have thought of. While you're staring at your fridge anyway, trying to decide what you want to eat but nothing really appeals, scanning it costs you no extra time at all. You don’t have to drop any RL things to do it, you only make the RL thing you were already doing more successful

View clip (I didn’t get to see this and I don’t know the site, though someone else might be able to give you that info)

This is one of the fundamental things that are wrong with this world. This right here is what you're learning about. This woman is being incredibly cruel to him. he obviously really likes that tie.

You see later in the episode that he has a huge collection of miniature cars that he put together himself with lots of attention. It’s very important to him; he feels he's dressing up right. he is taking care of looking good for her party, putting on a tie that he loves and probably thinking of something that's really close to his heart and she just waltzes in and shreds him to pieces, emotionally. She’s putting in claws and ripping a piece out of him and she doesn’t even notice. It’s so casual, so normal, so completely without thought or concern or care. it's these little cruelties that are screwing people up, that are tearing them apart bit by little bit..You’ve seen some of it from your own childhood's cruelties.

All the big fancy techniques and tools are cool. They’re shiny. So you can clear ghosts and look at the planet, awesome. But these little things is why we have elfpath, these are the important parts. And you don’t get that from doing the Meta 4 hours a week. you get that from being aware all the time, of what others are feeling, of what you are feeling and what energies you are holding, from speaking with integrity and love and compassion

Later in this show, this man gets cut off in traffic, and gets horribly bitched out by some young woman in a car when he wants to alert her to it, and I mean completely stomped on and trashed and cut open. Something in him eventually, after all these many years, just breaks. It snaps. And he ends up shooting some people.. The police on the radio are telling him "look, we know you’re a normal guy, a good guy who just got screwed up because it hurt so much, we get that. What you need to do is tell someone about this, tell them what you've done, what's going on with you". So he does.

He goes to his wife, and he says "listen, i need to tell you something. The deaths in the news, i did that, that was me". She laughs at him. She says "what? You? No way, ha-ha, and I’m a serial killer too! No way, you're way too stupid and cowardly" and so on and so on, and she calls in their teen daughters and they all laugh in his face and humiliate and mock him. A few hours later, he takes a gun and shoots his entire family in their sleep, then kills himself

Then society says "ppl who do these things are monsters!" It’s the exact same with kids who shoot their schoolteachers/classmates. This is why we are teaching the Meta, not so you can float above the world and look at all the cute ants there, though that's a perk. We teach the Meta because you, every one of you, need to become aware. You need to know what you are doing to people, how you affect them, what they're feeling, what they need, how to communicate with integrity and compassion

We’re teaching people to avoid situations like this clip. If either of them had any Meta training, this wouldn’t have happened. She would have sensed "you are depressed, you're upset, your emotions are a mess, talk to me". or he would have recognised 'her boss is going to show up, she doesn’t want to lose her job, she's showing a control drama and being a jessica, this isn’t about me"

His whole talk should be somewhere on the site. We’re not flaky ppl teaching energies and intuition for sake of being spiritual and cool. We’re people who are fed up living in a messed up world and want to improve our lives, our communication with others, ourselves. "How many more people are we willing to let suffer?"

Do you all see how this ties in to using the Meta in real life? Imagine this guy is a colleague at your work. Describe how this situation may have gone, without and with using the Meta in your daily life.

without: pft loser guy, pay no attention. same outcome
with: guy in need of help, sit with him at lunch maybe and talk

without, he might have shot up our entire workplace, me included.
With: I would have noticed his unhappy, and if I'd have gotten over myself went to talk to him.

with = you could have grounded the area which could calm the situation and put people in better moods without = people will end up in a bad mood knowing you could have cleaned the area around them even tho they got their own muck inside but still you could help with something on the outside

Which Meta things would be useful to have incorporated into your everyday life for this? General awareness, truth scanning, GCB, stepping IP

How about practising to pay attention to what the people around you are feeling?

energy manip to stop some of his internal emotional wounds. that can help on how you approach them as well, knowing what they are feeling. maybe help him to heal. checking for vampires.

In the “real world" mentality, you'd have been so self absorbed and busy being normal, you wouldn’t have noticed at all how much this man was hurting inside. Even with the Meta, the signs might have been small, but you could have read his response when a colleague was being cruel and said "look, dude, back off the guy, you're being mean". it’s just like why you don’t do the meta more. You "forget". You don’t think "this isn’t my problem", you don’t even see the problem

None of the ppl in this episode cared enough to say "sure, but what about HIM? What am i doing to him? How is he feeling?"They don’t look, and so they don’t see anything. There are lots of very simple solutions to fix this globally. Everyone being empathic would fix it overnight. If this woman knew how deeply she was hurting him every time she said cruel things like that... she would act differently

If we could require everyone to only speak truth, or to speak with integrity, we'd be done. If we could make everyone mind readers, we'd be done too. A big problem in the world is all the secrets. Ideally, there shouldn’t be secrets at all. Those who were here, did you see how Angel and i live?

Angel knows at any moment exactly what I’m feeling, on more levels than I even have the ability to be aware. He knows what I’m thinking before I do. He knows why I do things, what I want, what I don’t want, how I respond to everything he says. Imagine living with someone like that. Does that freak anyone out? If that's scary to you, then you have some work to do on integrity

Lots of reasons you could pick out everything someone is doing wrong. Housewives and husbands do it all the time. Imagine if ALL the world worked like this. If no one had any secrets, if all the neighbors could look right into your house and see how you treated your family, how you felt, etc. Child abuse would end. No one would be sneaking into their kid's room at night anymore, or beating them or screaming at them because they had a bad day because others could see it. These horrors happen only because it can be done in secret, because no one knows. Everyone who is offended or weirded out by sex is not comfortable with their own sexuality

Angel and I know what all our neighbors are feeling most of the time, I at least know when I look, or when they come home radiating garbage. They should get divorced already, but they don’t because they want the anger and abuse in their lives. So if they did, they'd just find someone else to experience the same thing with. Actually, our morphology didn’t change so much the last 20k years, since we were monkeys. It’s the inside that changes. We have the brain capacity now; the next steps will be learning how to use it, and awakening a heart big enough to match the brain. This stuff doesn’t happen by accident, though

It doesn’t happen when your brain still thinks there are two worlds, and that you can step into the Meta world only when you have the luxury from your real life to do so. You don’t just lie in bed all preoccupied with thinking thoughts, omg. You think while you walk and talk and eat and drink. Consider the Meta like breathing. You use it all the time. And you use it while doing all of the other things. It rather improves how much you f you stop breathing, you die physically. Without the Meta, you die energetically, emotionally, spiritually

So here's the solution you were all asking for: get it through to your subconscious that these two worlds are NOT separate you don’t have to drop any RL things to do the Meta. you can do all the RL things you would normally do, except now you can do them better and easier and feel happier while at it get out of life. I’d say just go over the list of everyday situations, pick one situation you will run into that day, and experiment doing the meta-things listed on that page WHILE doing it. Won’t cost you an extra minute.

If you think of more things you can do during this situation, add it to the wiki so the next person will have some more toys to play with. And of course journal; it helps your subconscious to get the point if you write it down.

How many ppl tend to fall asleep while doing sweet and other evening routines? When working on this MIRL idea, I found that it can really help to read in bed. You don’t need all your focus to read a book. it's great practise. If you miss for a bit, nothing happens, you won’t get run over by a truck because you focused so much on the Meta that you didn’t read half a page.

I’d like to see this mirl wiki page fleshed out properly. I’ve got most of the backbone up, will try to finish the last two or three categories today or tomorrow, but a lot of exercises need wiki pages, and I’m sure I missed lots of fun possibilities. Easiest way to get a page filled in: ask me how to do x exercise, then write my answer up and stuff it in the wiki

Mel’s been doing a lot of that, it's why our wiki is starting to look decent
