Hello, I just found this place today through a link at mysticismtech at LJ, but it looks like precisely the sort of place I've been looking for on the Interwebs for years.
I'm Edgewise, and I have a .. visibility problem. People don't see me, or rapidly forget I'm there--apparently I have no sense of presence at all, even to family. Only in recent years and with significant, deliberate effort have I been able to turn it off, but I seem to be stuck with invisibility as a default, now, which is a large problem when trying to cross a street, get a job, or catch a boyfriend. I have one very useful ability which may be related to this problem, but I don't know if it will ever be relevant here.
I have had an interest in metaphysics since forever, but I didn't take it seriously until I learned that turquoise really does help against depression*, the characters I write are not of my own invention, and "imaginary" monsters can be frightened off or actually kicked out. Everything interests me. I have dabbled carefully in shamanism, participated in a meditation study--there would be more to this list, but... I'm invisible.
IRL, I'm a lefthanded Californian Virgo with Sagittarius rising, Moon in Scorpio, and an exhausting "part-time" retail job. Oh.. and I'm a girl, just to save you the question.
Happy Halloween!
*Turquoise is no substitute for meds and therapy. That was over a decade ago, and I am in robust mental health today. ^__^

Hello beautiful,
Try this exercise of 30 days and see if it helps. In the meantime, we will help from here...
** imagine a large shadow hanging over you, hiding you.
** sit outside for a few minutes each day, preferably in the sunlight
** breathe deeply
** with each in breath draw some of that sunny energy into your heart area
** with each out breath, radiate it out from your heart
** as you radiate the sun, imagine the shadow just melting away, your light shining out for the world to see.
** do this until you feel some of your light shining thru.
** do it every day. it will have a cumulative effect.
peace,
Angel

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive back where we started
And then to know the place for the first time..

Hi Edgewise! Just wedge yourself in here between us all, we'll be glad to be aware you're there. Welcome, and I look forward to seeing you around often.

Re: Can you see me?
*bows* warm welcome Edgewise. I hope you will feel you are indeed 'seen' here. I have some idea of what you are experiencing, albeit my own lack of presence in RL (internet wise not so much) is partially because I hide myself from the world, since I don't want to be noticed as indeed as Angel says, omg I might have to go up in front and I really don't want to. Another part of it could be that people are not used to my way of going about, which is quiet, in the background, yet paying attention, the more I look around me I am astounded how so many people can talk to eachother yet not communicate. People are used to being poked, listening as it were for a clear call for attention. It may be that my own call, and perhaps yours, is too soft for them to hear. That does not mean it has less worth, it just means we need to let the others know there are others sounds or calls to listen to as well
.
May the Force be with you.

Boy, I know what you mean. The people who notice and remember me best are usually artists or scientists--people with a good eye for detail or hidden things. Maybe I come across like a Bev Doolittle painting?
Thanks for having me, guys! I look forward to learning more.

Welcome Edgewise. I hope you enjoy your time here.
It's been mentioned somewhere here before (may have been on Skype, I forget) that we seem to attract a bunch of artists/writers. Scientists less so, I think. But since we're here, you know that we'll see you. Hope you decide to stick around.
