Today we discussed some things on Skype.
About this thing.
We're planning on gathering roughly 700,000 euros (wow, yes, that much!), or close to a million US dollars. Then we'll be able to buy that jewel and to house 10 or so students, with 2 teachers and we'll have our very first Elfpath Mansion! Albeit a prototype, but it would be such a huge step forward. We could teach students in person now, if they'd be willing to rent the place for a while, or simply move in free of all costs if the business is okay.
Once people are high-levelled and have the means they could move out on their own and just make room for new, lower-belt students. It's a perfect fit.
And just look at the house. It's a beauty. I'd move in there in an instant when we pull this off.
So far some of us have recently inherited money from grandparents and the like, or have some cash on the side, or even have contacts with people in real-estate business, so we're getting started.
But we'll need a hand in getting there. If we can haul in 1 or 2 somewhat wealthy and interested people, we're there! We could work things out, like shared ownership, or them buying the house and owning it until we pay them off... Whatever works, we're easy to work with. There are also people who buy property and sub-rent it. Whatever works, again. Direct donations are very welcome too! Heh.
And we're planning on having raised this amount by Christmas. Yes, really. Intuitive scans all told us this was perfectly doable! So let's aim high shall we. But we'll need your help.
If you've read my entry about Little Cruelties (link), among others, I think you can see how this can really start making us big enough to make those very important little changes happen.
If you feel you want to support us, if you empathise with our cause... Theres a few things you can do
* Chip in on your own. Little or big, it doesn't matter. All bits help. Susi from our forums, 15 years old, had 20 euros on the side. She donated those. It's small, but it helps.
* Find people who are interested in shared ownership.
* Or who want to buy the house until we can pay it back.
* Connect us to people who buy property and sub-rent it.
* Simply spread the word about Elfpath! This too helps a lot, and it's easy!
An alternative would be this:
Right here.
It's a lot smaller, but only 320K USD, too. But let's aim for the moon, right?
So, most know how to contact Rohaa, and there's a Donate button on the homepage. Let's get this thing rolling!

Totally. im trying to get this message posted in as many forums as possible, and spamming it on facebook. But that won't do it. Enelya for one is going to plan on printing the article and hanging it on the bulletin board at work. I think. Anyway, this needs to get out there.

This property is way overpriced. With the current economic conditions, it's a buyers market. And also the real estate market in Groningen is shrinking due to a declining and aging population. It's not possible to get a morgage with no down payment in Groningen anymore. This means it's getting more and more difficult, if not impossible, to sell these highly overprized houses. I know of a property that went from an asking price of € 500,000.00 to a € 350.000.00 deal. My message is, don't forget to bargain.

Oooh yes, of course! Thanks for that feedback. Hopefully we can indeed cut down the price somewhat.
