This article is a how-to guide to applying the meta- to many areas of your everyday life. You will find, if you play around with it, that your life will get richer, that you are more stable and capable, and that your meta abilities will grow.

With this, you never have to have the excuse again that you were "too busy" and "didn't have time".

Meta 24/7

The Meta-Intuitive Arts are not something you do only during your Elfpath classes and homework. Much like Budo, the Meta-Intuitive Arts are a way of life, something you incorporate into every aspect of your being. We teach skills, attitudes and disciplines that can improve and completely change your life, but it doesn't happen unless you apply it to your life, if you make it a part of you. Ideally, you would be doing it 24/7.


Too much work? Not at all.


You could argue that breathing makes your life easier. So do walking, and talking, and eating and sleeping and seeing and hearing. You do these things all the time, and they aren't work at all. They're almost automatic by now, and can be fun. Without any of these, your life would be much more difficult. Just like it would be without the Meta-Intuitive Arts.

Purpose

There are many benefits to applying the meta- to everything you do. The purpose of practising MIRL are several:

  • Increasing your awareness of your surroundings
  • Responding more accurately and quickly to your surroundings
  • Gaining experiences, which will make the meta- more real to you, broaden your horizons, help you in teaching others, and give you cool stories to tell.
  • Increasing the time you have available for meta- work
  • Becoming more stable
  • Making your life richer


How to

Your goal here is simply to incorporate the meta- into all areas of your life. A very easy way to do this is to ask yourself many times a day, "What meta-thing could I be doing right now?" And then pick something that appeals to you and do it.


It is important to remember that the point is not to do MIRL instead of doing something else. That way, it would become again a think that needs to be scheduled and prioritised, a choice between doing either MIRL or something "important" or "fun". The point is, rather, to do MIRL during all the important and fun and boring and necessary things in life.


Think for a moment of how much attention you pay to everything you do. It probably doesn't take all of your focus. Your brain has a lot of capacity to multitask, so you will often find yourself making shopping lists during traffic, to-do lists when watching tv, thinking of vacation when at work... The meta- should be a process that is always running in the background of your brain. While you are brushing your teeth, ask "am I grounded?" When you are waiting for the bus, check "What is that random passerby feeling?"


Application

To help you get a grasp on the many ways in which you can apply MIRL, the pages below will give suggestions to use the meta- in many normal situations. They are divided into three groups: 1) Low grade Inner Work, because for any deeper work you need a proper alpha state of mind and a lot of focus, you can't multitask that. 2) Meta-practise, to get your sensing and shaping abilities up to factory standards again. 3) Helping others, which will not only feed a deep part inside you that wants to help, it'll also be a step or two towards improving the world immediately around you. Try to experiment with suggestions from all these groups, so you develop a well-rounded set of skills.


You don't have to do all of the suggestions in these lists. They are here to play with and to inspire you. Feel free to add your own suggestions and experiences.
