Dictionary of Emotions

Postby Melanie » Wed Oct 05, 2011 11:04 am

This is something I've heard a lot from Intro students and others: they have trouble naming their emotions. They may be feeling it perfectly, but either don't know what it is over-generalise.
So here's my proposal: we make a dictionary for emotions, so when people get stuck they can look at all the ones labeled "type of fear" or something and go "oh it's THAT one!". Or they could scan the list and figure out which ones they're feeling ;)
This may eventually move into the wiki if it gets big enough. It's okay if they're pretty similar.

I'll try to keep up with the thread and add any replies to the list. At some point we may need to add definitions, that'll be fun.

Thank you for this idea. This is a major Pitfall of mine and I hope to see this thing grow.

That's very helpful, but we should be careful when naming symptoms for each, since each person has a different sub-set of symptoms linked to a certain emotion.

Some people feel nausea when there is disgust, but I have a higher up choking type of reflex instead.
There could be more of these differences for each emotion. :)

I find this useful. There's also something like it in the Questbook. Might also help to categorize between not just emotions-generally, but what's negative, what's positive, and what negative and positive mean to the energy system and perhaps mental and physical symptoms that go along with each (in a general sense).
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
